DESCRIPTION:Fred Harvey History Weekend 2019!!! \nJoin us October 25-28 for the tenth year of Fred Harvey History events at the New Mexico History Museum and La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe—and\, for the first time\, at the newly restored Harvey Castaneda Hotel in Las Vegas\, NM! \nFred Harvey History Weekend begins with two days of lectures at the New Mexico History Museum\, from 12:30-5\, October 25 and 26.\nThe lectures are free but to guarantee yourself a seat (and us a head count) please email us to RSVP at fredharveybook@gmail.com\nas soon as possible with the names and email addresses of everyone in your party. This email will also put you on the list for updates on the weekend\, and for future Fred Harvey History events. \nWatch this space for a complete listing of lecturers and topics. \nSaturday evening join us for the Fred Harvey Foodie Dinner\, a truly historic Harvey-inspired meal to benefit the New Mexico History Museum’s exhibitions and public programming\, and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Drinks and then dinner will be served in the grand ballroom at La Fonda on the Plaza. There we will celebrate the official grand re-opening of the Castaneda Hotel\, the very first of the large Fred Harvey mission style trackside hotels in the Southwest\, which opened in 1898 and has been closed as a hotel since 1948. \nThe re-opening festivities begin at 1:30 PM at the hotel\, with a talk about the rescue and restoration of the building by Allan Affeldt\, followed by a tour. \nAt 3:00 PM\, there will be an opening of a new art show by Tina Mion\, “Midnight Muse\,” at the Mayeur Projects Gallery. It includes paintings inspired by living and working in Fred Harvey hotels. \nBoth of these events are free and open to the public \nThat evening there will be a grand re-opening dinner at the Castaneda’s new restaurant\, Kin.
