The
word "fashionista" was invented
for Thing of Beauty as a shorthand way to describe "the army of
models, photographers, designers, hair and makeup people, stylists
and editors who toiled daily in the beauty trenches." It was a
way of differentiating the traditional "beautiful people" and
their beautifying people, who joined them in celebrity in the late
'70s. Fashionista caught on, and is now so commonly used that, according
to the New York Times, it will be included in the next edition of the
Oxford Definition |
